It's FALL!

Although we have been pretty busy lately it doesn't seem like we've done too much. We have had a lot of play dates recently and definitely enjoying it!

Last weekend the Canadian Snowbirds came to Duluth. Instead of paying a fortune for the show we were able to watch in the backyard of a friends house. Definitely very cool and amazing watching those jets. My pictures make the jets look very far away but it was unreal how close they actually were.

Kael was in Chicago this past week so we tried to keep busy while he was gone. We got to play with some friends and even began Christmas shopping! I'm definitely not ready for Christmas yet but I just couldn't pass on some great deals. Not only that, but if we do manage to visit south in the near future it will be between thanksgiving and Christmas so we may just have a little Christmas while we are down. Let me just say, it is not easy Christmas shopping with 2 little boys all by myself. Kohen decided at one point he was through with shopping and wanted to let me know that by pulling his pants down in the middle of the store. Never a dull moment in my family!

Anyways, today we are so excited to finally be picking daddy up from the airport but until then we decided to envoy this beautiful fall weather. First we were at a standoff with the 2 deer in our backyard and I'm proud to say the boys and I won the staring contest after about 2 minutes. Then, I piled a good bit of leaves up in the backyard for the boys and they had a blast! Who needs toys when you have a rake and leaves in the back yard? Poor Roxy even had to deal with getting a pile of leaves thrown at her.

Hopefully we will get our family pictures done soon and we also plan to visit the local corn maze. Hope to have pictures of it all soon. :)

I'm not sure why my pictures don't show up in the order I put them...

Happy birthday Kohen!!

So hard to believe my baby is now 3 years old!! Time flies when you're having fun! For his birthday we didn't have a big party of course so we made the day all about Kohen. Surprisingly, Duluth doesn't have a lot of indoor activities for children, such as chuck e cheese. It was a little chilly outside so we had to find something more indoors.

We started his birthday as we always do filling up his room with balloons. All Kohen wanted for his birthday was a Mickey mouse balloon and a spiderman balloon. For breakfast he wanted beignets and for dinner all he would ask for was red beans and rice. We took him to the children's museum where he got to pretend to fish, be a knight, a bank teller, dig for dinosaur fossils and all kinds of other neat things. Then he wanted to go bowling. We took him for pizza and bowling and he had a blast. My little 3 year old even made a strike!! He was very excited and very exhausted after bowling. Once we got home I surprised him with the silly string, but he wasn't too happy with me after that! Haha! We had some friends over and got to eat cake and ice cream and of course our red beans and rice. Although he didn't have a huge party with all of our family and friends I think it's safe to say he had a great day still and was completely worn out.

Kane's checkup

Unfortunately, Kane had to have his checkup before starting preschool to make sure he is all up to par. Kane was given a hearing test and had his eyes checked. As of now he has his mommys vision of 20/25 and 20/20. He weighs 44# and is 44 inches tall he is currently in the 96th percentile for his height and 87th percentile for his weight. We always play doctor at home so Kane was looking forward to having his blood pressure checked along with all of his vitals. He didn't have a problem going to the doctor until they asked him to put on a gown. I got that sad puppy face when he asked if he was getting any shots. I had to break it to him that he had to get not one, not two, but THREE shots. I told him to focus on going the idea we were going to the toy store and then get pizza and ice cream. Well...he told me he kept thinking about the toy store, pizza and ice cream but it still hurt. He didn't cry for very long and was a tough lil guy! The nurse gave him one sucker and 4 stickers. Kohen was not happy that he didn't get a sucker too so Kane gave him a sticker with a puppy on it. He said he chose the puppy sticker for kohen because he knows kohen loves puppies. Melts my heart all the time! I am proud to say he is running around and doing fine and doesn't have to have a shot for several more years! :)

This is him in his gown...

Hair cuttin' time!

It was that time again for the boys to get a haircut. Since we live 1350 miles away from MawMaw KK we unfortunately have to find new places for the boys to get haircuts. We decided to try a new place for men. The boys absolutely loved it. They were able to watch whatever they chose on tv while they got their hair cut. After doing a fantastic job of getting their hair cut they were given a back massage. They were such big boys and of course I had to take pictures as if it was their first haircuts. :)

Lake Superior Zoo

Back in June, Duluth was flooded with rain. Unfortunately the local zoo lost 13 animals during the flood and others have been relocated. No one really expected all of the flooding so therefore no one was prepared to relocate the animals at the time. The zoo is trying very hard to get their polar bear back as well as many of the barnyard animals but of course it's going to take some time as the zoo is still under repairs. We decided to take the boys to the zoo one day and although it doesn't compare to the Audubon zoo and they still don't have all of their animals back we still enjoyed it very much and had a great time. The boys still talk about it all of the time and want to go back. Here are some of the pictures I took while we were there...

Oh and check out the CN train..adorable!

I heart pinterest!

Ok ok. We actually did this project quite some time ago but we got the idea from pinterest and I just love it. I have put the finishing projects up in Kane and Kohen's toy room. I call this "canvas and cocktails". They painted while I drank...just kidding! :)

Mini Vacay

So last week we decided to take a mini vacation and go to "the cities" as everyone up here calls it. We went to the Minnesota state fair and had a blast! We were very lucky to not get rained on and had a nice little overcast that kept us from the heat wave we were expecting.

Of course Kane and kohen had a great time at the fair too! They got to pretend to be farmers and drive little tractors and milk a cow. Of course I have tons of pictures from our little trip but unfortunately my computer is acting up again and I am unable to upload them just yet. Once I get them uploaded I will be sure to post! Now back to the fair, the boys enjoyed the parade and the cow show as well. There isn't very much that my boys don't enjoy and I am very lucky for that. It was fun for us to see and try so many things that we had actually seen on the travel channel. We also got to see Hot Chelle Rae (not sure if I spelled that right). We didn't even realize who they were until we noticed all the 13 year old girls screaming for them. Kael and I got to thinking about all of the upcoming stars we have seen by visiting fairs and festivals. We've seen Chris Young, Joe Nichols, Diamond Rio, Julie Roberts, and once we ran into Cupid (ya know, the Cupid shuffle?) at a gas station.

Anyways, the next day we were going to go to Ikea and the Mall of America once again but after spending all of our time at Ikea we decided to head home. Let me just say that I have fallen in love with Ikea!! The store was awesome! I found so many good deals and really cute things for such a reasonable price although we couldn't find a new living room set we are crazy about. Kael is obviously not big on shopping but really enjoyed the store, considering we spent a good 2 hours in there. So I would definitely recommend checking out Ikea if you're looking for something modern and reasonably priced!

That's one of the greatest things about living in Minnesota...every time Kael is off of work it's almost like a vacation for us. We are always finding something new to do!
